Finally getting back to New York after almost six months of traveling has felt really nice and delicioso. Whilst I adore the travel and want to continue the travel, it is important to take a break from the travel. Otherwise, the travel will give you a 24-hour cold every single day. For those asking, no, that does not mean it’s a weeklong cold; it means I caught a cold for 24 hours and then caught it again the next day. What can I say; I’m an athlete. I’m really good at catching things.
Whenever I leave New York, I forget how much I enjoy it. And then when I return, something freaky happens here and I remember how exciting this city can be. Par exemple: The CEO of United Healthcare was killed in midtown Manhattan this week and not a single person is upset about it. In fact, everyone is celebrating it. And I think it’s really messed up to celebrate the murder of someone. The only way I would understand celebrating someone’s murder is if the person who was killed happened to be someone who has controlled who gets to live and who gets to die because of his position of power in an insurance company that uses AI to deny claims for mental health services and medically necessary treatments so that it can maximize profits1. THAT is the only reason why I would celebrate the murder of someone. But that isn’t the case here … unless?
Another addition to this TOP NEWS STORY is that people are romanticizing the killer.
I mean, wouldn’t you? Look at that lil cutie! First, they stole my heart in The Princess Diaries,
And now they’re like the new Robin Hood in a more SiNiStEr way.
What’s crazy about this case is that the police cannot find him, and he barely tried to escape. He just continued walking and then left his bag somewhere for the police to find, and now he’s most likely out of New York. And because they’re having such a hard time finding him, they’re asking for our help with the search, as if it’s our responsibility. This is just like the lantern flies all over again.
It is interesting to see not one negative post or comment about the murder of the fuck ass CEO. The people are angry about so many things, and they’re not afraid to make that known. This is just one of the many pieces of the puzzle to what feels to me like a French Revolution of sorts that may occur in our near future. My entire algorithm has been activism and informative posts about how to protest for years, so I’ve always seen this type of reaction to things. However, I don’t often see it addressed in news outlets like The New York Times or even The New Yorker or even anything else with New York in the name it seems according to my examples, but after the pretty much unanimous opinion about no one being upset with the news of this man’s death, those news outlets have had to address it in their articles. They’re all confused by the public’s pride in a man for assassinating someone. I don’t know about y’all, but I am not losing sleep at night from this. In fact, I slept an entire 8.5 hours last night, which is so unlike me. Like, I woke up at 10:30, you guys. According to daylight savings, that’s already the entire day gone. Society is broken, you guys.
This paragraph is just to say that I still haven’t seen Wicked, and I do feel the opportunity has passed. Don’t get mad at me about it because I will shut down.
PLEASE NO SPOILERS by the way I really don’t wanna know how Wicked, the story of Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West, connects to The Wizard of Oz, a story that has two characters in it named Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West, until the movie is on streaming. Just don’t.
Please let me know in the comments which is the real Liza Minnelli and I’ll let you know if you’re right.
And if you’re wondering why I have the final say on which one’s correct, you can go ahead and speak to my lawyers.
Well, the holidays are right around the corner, and girl boy they, do I have THE gift ideas for YOU:
one single earring in case they lost one
the option to be a dependent on your United Healthcare insurance plan
an application to become a hitman … not for any specific reason
iPod touch that only has enough storage for the U2 album that was forced upon everyone’s iTunes libraries
a BAGGU item (sponsored)
three wishes that all have a catch
frozen tomato (for protection — someone told me it was a good weapon the other night and I’m still thinking about it)
tickets to a high school production of Wicked

If you need more ideas, ask someone else because, if we’re being translucent2, I have a tummyache. So … I’m gonna go.

movie rec: School of Rock (2003) — “I was this close to getting a chair on the Polish Philarmonic and I *nailed* the audish, but I didn't get it. Guess who did? Yo-Yo-Ma's cousin, little nepotiz.” If lil nepotiz doesn’t convince you to watch it right now, then I don’t know what will. Joan Cusack, maybe?
