what do you call a sunday newsletter that's posted on mondays sometimes? CIRCLE BACK BABY
thank you for understanding
Okay, this is really getting out of hand these surprise Monday newsletters instead of Sunday newsletters but I’ll tell you right now that Sunday is not the Lord’s day for everyone a lot of us are still jam-packed on Sundays a LOT of us have our own religions to run okay we can’t all just be chilling at home saying that we’re reading the Arts & Culture section of The New York Times when we’re really in bed watching TikToks until 2 pm. Some of us can’t do that, okay? Anyway, welcome to the Monday Circle Back.
Today I will talk about two things: the movie Nope and what I did this week. FIRST, raise your hand if you’ve seen the movie Nope. I raised my hand, just so everyone knows.
According to Logan Paul, Nope is the worst movie he has ever seen. He believes the movie is objectively slow and confusing with stretched themes that don’t justify the pace. He also believes that every single big scene and character in the movie did not make any sense whatsoever. I won’t reference fully the scenes he’s talking about because That Would Be Spoiling The Movie, but he had some really interesting points. Like for example: a lot of the movie is about how society profits off of people of color, just like Logan Paul does! Oh, wait, I don’t think he said that….. Everything he referenced made it seem like he actually knew exactly what everything meant in the movie, but then he would do a complete 180 and say that he didn’t understand any of it. I’ll link to his thread, and then you should read it once you see the movie because it’s very funny to read and actually makes you feel smarter when you read it because the tweets are dumb as all hell. Everything Jake Paul I mean Logan Paul hated about the movie, I really liked. I still think Jordan Peele’s Get Out is his best written story, but the cinematography and directing of Nope was really breathtaking. Huge fan.
This week I went BACK to Chicago to drive two hours into Albany, Wisconsin for a cutie little music festival called Postock Music Festival. It’s the best lil thing ever. It’s a festival on a farm that my cousin Sima created 15 years ago where a bunch of bands and artists come play some music in a BARN. It’s very relaxing and very good and very gorgeous. I love it. As someone who was born into the Cunninghams, I am required to work at this festival, which is something I love to do. I check the people in, I run the social media, I answer the questions, and I have the good time. Throughout the years, the festival has gotten bigger and bigger but will never be something like Pitchfork or Lollapalooza because I don’t think the barn will fit Dua Lipa and all of her backup dancers. She has asked to perform at Postock many times, and I have had to tell her that she is not welcome many times. And that’s all I’ll say about that. Cher has also requested a headlining spot, but legally I’m not allowed to discuss that.
The rest of this week’s newsletter is going to be photos from Postock because then you’ll be able to picture it a little!
All in all, a really beautiful weekend. Now it’s time for bed.
Movie rec of the week: Nope. Could you imagine if I recommended a different movie after writing a whole paragraph on this movie? So silly!
ok final thing to say is today is my 1 year anniversary of an entire bottle of hot sauce exploding in my eyes which means i can now see the future and my 5 year vegan anniversary which means i have strictly been eating humans for five years
anyway just wanted to let everyone know so that you finally find something that’s annoying about me since there’s nothing else!!! alright see ya next week on SUNDAY
"A lot of us have our own religions to run." Good line lassie!
