the sun is setting at 5:55pm today because somebody is trying to kill me
daylight savings is actually the most murderous thing out there
WELL
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for … the alleged Cher costume … that I said I would be wearing … for Halloweekend. Are we ready? No criticisms please it’s a spot-on stume:
I mean … it’s perfect. I was Cher tonight. You’ve never seen Cher and me in the same room. You have no proof that we aren’t the same. I. Am. Cher.
I’ll tell ya: I really started this Halloweekend off in a dramatic way. As I was working from home on the Friday of this gorgeous lil weekend, I locked myself out of my apartment with a literal barrel of laundry and could not get back in for three hours. It was just me, and so many pairs of socks on my stoop. So real for that!
But fear not, readers — this did not ruin the weekend. The weekend went very well. Everyone’s costumes were great. The Spotify playlist was great.
Colin Ghost (my tattoo) also dressed up for the party:
I was Princess Mia on The Princess Diaries movie poster,
I was Cher, and now I am satisfied. We can move on to whatever’s next. Life can continue. I can now take a nap.
I’ve been watching a lot of the Halloween movie classics this month, and let me just say this:
they’re amazing.
We never should’ve started using CGI. I watched the og Nightmare On Elm Street the other day, and it’s probably one of the most creative movies I’ve ever seen. The tongue in the phone? The ceiling getting pushed in? Johnny Depp getting eaten by a bed? These are all things I’d love to see today in real life.
Why did we ever run away from this? Older horror movies are so much more creative — probably because they had to be, but why did we stop feeling like we didn’t have to be as creative with the newer movies? The new ones care more about how graphic and upsetting the scenes should be, rather than how fun it is to make the prom scene in Carrie super saturated and dramatic and fun to watch. There are definitely some newer horror movies that are still really great and fun, but they’re usually the ones that don’t require many special effects in the first place — special effects that Marvel would prefer to replace with CGI. Not fun!
Ok I’m not gonna lie to any of you right now I’m a little hungover and do not want to talk about Halloween anymore so I’m gonna switch to another bunch of little topics immediately ok here we go.
Wait first here’s my favorite Letterboxd movie review of the week:
Ok now we move on.
Do you ever wish that you could’ve been a better father? Or that you didn’t do all of your own stunts? Well, this guy does! Tell us more, buddy!
Thanks for sharing <3
There are so many three-legged dogs in Williamsburg that when I see a dog with four legs I get uncomfy. I’m like, what’s going on what happened? whenever I see a four-legged dog in Williamsburg. The other day I was walking in Cobble Hill and there was a dog with only one eye and a little girl with her friends walked by it and the little girl said to her friends, “My dog’s cuter.” And if that’s not the funniest thing you’ve ever heard I don’t know what else to tell you.
Ok well, the runtime for me to say that I'm not sitting through this movie is three seconds. Now I have a whole three hours and 10 minutes to scroll on TikTok instead!
I’m not gonna lie to any of you. I did steal that little joke from Twitter, but I was the one who made the joke on Twitter so really I stole it from myself. But the reason why I did this, my little oompa loompas, is because I am hungover and can’t think of what else to say right now. So what I’m trying to say is … I think this is where I leave you. UNTIL NEXT WEEK.
This 25-Year-Old Woman Hasn’t Eaten All Day And It’s Midnight I Mean 7 PM. So I’m gonna go try to survive! Every time I get a bad hangover I call my mom and tell her that it’s her fault because she should’ve stopped me. So THANKS MOM AND OBAMA.
