stop yelling at me about getting this week's newsletter on a monday
i was headlining pitchfork i didn't have any extra time or strength
Okay relax I know it’s Monday and I know you were all expecting this on Sunday but in case you’ve been living under a Rock I’ll have you know that Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago was this weekend and I’ll have you know that I was at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this weekend. ACTUALLY I was working Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this weekend, so I was busy trying to make a living. So I’d appreciate it if you’d all forget that today is Monday and pretend that it’s actually Sunday that you’re getting this. Your girl needs the money, okay? And your girl wants to have FUN making the money, okay, okay? Speaking of money, when are y’all gonna start PAYING for this newsletter, huh? Oh, we just think we get to continue to have this incredible content for FREE? Wow, that’s really ignorant, you guys. I think it’s time we all check our privilege. So messed up. I’m not mad; I’m just disappointed. But I’m a Pisces, and I’m also culturally Irish Catholic, so I’m going to keep this feeling bottled up and never tell anyone about it, and then I will just faint probably. Okay, we can move on now.
I don’t have anything to talk about this week, except for Pitchfork. I worked a 60-hour weekend, which was so fun and so chic, but I am dead now. And when you are dead, it is very difficult to write. So therefore in conclusion, here are the weekend’s highlights:
We begin our story here, where I went to get a vegan donut before the first day of the festival. It was very good. It was also $4.
Then, we sat here, where I was for most of the weekend, Doing My Damn Job And Living My Best Life. The rumors are true: I got a haircut.
Next, my cousin Sima sang on the stage, which was very slay. Grammarly just tried to make me change that to “was very slain.” Grammarly may be correct this time because after Sima sang, that crowd was slain.
Here is Lucy Dacus. She did a cover of Believe by Cher. As we all may be able to figure out, that was definitely something I needed to hear.
Japanese Breakfast. Probably one of my favorite shows ever. Michelle Zauner has such an amazing stage presence.
Kaina! Listen to her new record and Be Blown Away.
Noname needs no comment. Except that she was great.
I wanted to get some sort of crowd shot, and Earl Sweatshirt was the perfect time to do it. Take it from me; I’m a professional. Speaking of, where did I leave my camera last night?
Toro y Moi? More like Toro y Wow This Was A Really Fun Show Everyone Was Dancing The Whole Time. Nailed it.
Cate Le Bon? More like Cate Le Tres Bon. Nope, not as smooth as the other one.
Aaaaand here’s a pic of me with my friend Joe. I did not take this one.
With all of the rain this weekend, it still ended up being a great festival. I mean, obviously.
I’d love to sit and write a beautiful and carefully curated newsletter for you all today, but I am dead. We’ll have to circle back to that kind of newsletter next week.
We’ll end with one of the most inspiring quotes I’ve ever read:
Oh, I’m sorry, wrong one:
